RIO Products Adds Sizes to its Trout Spey Collection

IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO (January 31, 2018) – RIO Products, manufacturer of industry-leading fly lines, leaders and tippet material, extends the range of fly lines offered for the two-handed trout Spey angler.

Skagit Trout Max Shooting Heads are perfect for Spey casting with tight obstructions and when using large streamers and sinking tips. The mass distribution allows effortless, sustained-anchor casts to launch sink tips and weighted flies with exceptional ease, while the short length makes them ideal tools for casting in tight quarters.

The new sizes in this range are the #1 wt (150 grains), #1/2 wt (175 grains), #4 wt (300 grains) and #4/5 wt (325 grains). Though designed for two-handed trout Spey and switch rods, these heads are an excellent choice for casting big flies on single-handed rods – as long as anglers adjust the line size by 3 (use the #1 on a 4wt, for example). The heads have an MSRP of $49.99 and more information can be found by watching this video.

RIO also now offers anglers their popular Scandi Short VersiTip in a new 3wt option (240gr). With four, 10-foot long interchangeable tips (float, intermediate, sink 3 and sink 6), it is the ideal system for trout Spey rods offering complete versatility for changing conditions. Learn more about this series in this video, and find them at your nearest RIO dealer for $149.99.

RIO Announces an Addition to the Award-winning DirectCore Flats Pro Line Family

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO (December 1, 2017) – Prepare for your next saltwater trip with RIO’s new DirectCore Flats Pro StealthTip fly line. As part of RIO’s award-winning DirectCore Flats Pro line family, the StealthTip offers anglers the same taper and technology but with a six-foot clear intermediate tip.

The DirectCore Flats Pro StealthTip fly line is ideal for bones, permit, and tarpon with a distinctive taper design that allows perfect close-range presentation, as well as fast, accurate distance casts.

DirectCore technology uses a proprietary low-memory, low-stretch monofilament core that retains stiffness in heat yet lies incredibly straight on the water allowing for a direct connection to the fly as well as up to 20 percent more strength than equivalent saltwater fly lines. The taper has a mid-length head and extended back taper for stable, accurate casts with a finely-tuned weight distribution for making delicate presentations. The StealthTip version of this line features a full-floating head with six feet of clear intermediate at the tip, which allows for shorter leaders and easier, more accurate casts, while the increased density provides great wind penetration.

In addition to the new core technology, the Flats Pro StealthTip is built with RIO’s unique triple-colored, range-targeting line color system SureFire to easily gauge accuracy and distance on a cast.  Find this line at your nearest RIO dealer for a retail price of $119.99 in clear/aqua/orange/sand color configuration in WF8F/I through WF12F/I with a sink rate of 1.5ips.

RIO Gives Anglers Complete Depth Control

RIO Give Anglers Complete Depth Control

IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO (October 2, 2017) – RIO Products, manufacturers of fly lines, leaders, and tippet material, offers fly fishers its new InTouch Scandi 3D line with a triple density coating for maximum fishing control.

RIO’s InTouch Scandi 3D is a Scandinavian style shooting head that seamlessly integrates three different densities along the length of the single head for ultimate depth and fly control. This line easily cuts through the wind and current to allow the fly to swing deep without snagging the bottom when the current slows. Built around RIO’s ultra-low stretch ConnectCore, the heads provide enhanced sensitivity, faster hook sets, and total control when fighting fish. There are three different density combinations available.

The floating/hover/intermediate head (F/H/I) is ideal for swinging flies in the top one to three feet of the water column. The floating back portion makes mending and pickups easy, while the hover mid-section and intermediate tip keeps the fly at the ideal depth for summer steelhead, salmon, and easy flows.

The hover/intermediate/sink 3 head (H/I/S3) is a better choice for deeper presentations or heavier currents with the fly swinging two to five feet below the surface. The hover back section allows for easy casting and line control, while the intermediate mid-section and sink 3 tip ensures the fly swings deeper – ideal for faster currents or cooler water temperatures.

The intermediate/sink 3/sink 5 head (I/S3/S5) gets the fly down deep and fast and is a great winter steelhead or back end salmon line. The fast sinking front section allows the fly to swing between four and 10 feet in depth, yet the graduated density allows for outstanding line control and easy casting.

Find these heads at any RIO dealer for a retail price of $59.99. For more information on this line, watch the video here.
